Osteoporosis resources for primary care
About these resources
This osteoporosis resource is a joint initiative of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal Osteoporosis Society.
Its aim is to equip:
- GPs
- Practice Nurses
- Allied Health Professionals
- Pharmacists and other members of the practice team
- with relevant information about osteoporosis to support you in the identification, assessment and management of osteoporosis in primary care.
How to use this resource
The Introduction, Identification, Investigation, Initiation and Information sections guide you through developing an understanding of osteoporosis, its diagnosis and management.
The Frameworks & Guidance section provides links to guidance - including NICE, SIGN and NOGG - to give you an appreciation of the wider context of osteoporosis treatment.
The Practice Nurses section provides information on the role of the Practice Nurse in osteoporosis care.
Work through the sections in order, or go directly to a section of particular interest.
